More unfortunate news for fans of talented British men: Actor Alan Rickman has passed away at the age of 69.
Rickman was best known for his role as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films, but you’d also recognize him as the Metatron in Dogma, the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and (my personal favorite) Hans Gruber in Die Hard.
As far as we can tell, Alan Rickman only has one real Muppet connection. In 2005, The Jim Henson Company built a series of puppets and creatures for The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. One of those was Marvin the Paranoid Android, whose voice was provided by Rickman himself.

It’s awful news that we’ve lost another great talent, especially someone with film connections like Harry Potter and Die Hard, and we’re extremely pleased to count him among those with Henson connections. Everyone will miss Alan Rickman.
