Secret Santa
Part 7: The Flight Before Christmas
Thig and Thog lead Santa through the tunnels, running back and forth as they look for the way out.
Meanwhile, Fred's gotten to the surface, and he spies on the sleigh.
Cosmo and Lothar are busy dumping the toys out, so they don't notice Fred sneaking up. The elf knows he has to stop the villains... Now he just has to figure out how.
Santa and his friends make their way to the great hall, and they find the elves tied up in Cosmo's sacks. It's all working out -- everything's going to be all right!
But then the Frackles appear, cackling and snorting as they close in...

You really don't think you can keep me here, do you, fellows?

Frackle |
You bet we do! Cosmo gave us orders!

Thog |
Tell 'em about the magic of Christmas, Santa!

Frackle |
The magic 'a Christmas? Ah haaaa haaaa!
|
Santa waves his hand... and the cave is transformed. Christmas decorations fill the walls, and the Frackles are wearing Santa hats. Quietly, the Frackles wish each other Merry Christmas.

I think you got to 'em, Santa.
|

Santa |
How would all of you like to come with me to my workshop?
|
Up on the surface, Fred thinks fast.
|
Cosmo |
We're all ready to go!
|
|
Fred |
They're all ready to go...
|
|
Cosmo |
I'm gonna fly around the world and steal everything from everybody! Ah ha ha haaa!
|

Fred |
Maybe this'll work...
|
Fred pulls the pin from the harness, disconnecting the reindeer from the sleigh just at the moment that Cosmo snaps the reins.
Santa and his friends emerge from the cave just in time to see the reindeer take off into the sky... and Cosmo left behind, sitting in the grounded sleigh.

What's goin' on? Oh, it's him, that no-good, hotshot little elf! Ga-farkle snarkle POP!

BOOM! Cosmo throws a spell at Fred, shooting him to the ground.

Lothar |
Don't you think you'd better get the deer back, oh livid leader of mine?
|

Cosmo |
Good thinkin'... Hey! Grumpy! Sneezy! Dopey! Get back here!
|
Santa smiles, as Cosmo and Lothar race off after the reindeer.

Santa |
Ho ho... I do believe Fred has stopped Cosmo! (He whistles.) That ought to bring those deer back!

Thig |
Is everything okay, Santa?
|

Santa |
Everything's just fine, Thig. Now, you and Thog, put all the toys back on the sleigh, as fast as you can! I'll go see about our hero, Fred.

Santa picks Fred up from the snow.

Santa |
Everything all right, Fred?
|

Fred |
Uhhh... I guess so. Did I stop Cosmo from leaving in the sleigh?

Santa |
You certainly did. You're the hero of the day!
|

Fred |
I am?
|

Santa |
You certainly are.
|
|
Fred |
... Wow!
|
The reindeer return, and Cosmo and Lothar follow.

Cosmo |
Hey, the reindeer, they've landed! And there's Santa Claus, how did he get out of the dungeon? Never mind, this'll fix 'im. Ga-snarkle farkle BOOM!
|
... But Cosmo's spell has no effect.

Santa |
Sorry, Cosmo. It's Christmas! Only my kind of magic works today.

Lothar |
You blew it, oh misguided magician.
|

Cosmo |
Quiet, Lothar, I'll still get 'im. Where are my boys? Hey, Frackles!

(The Frackles giggle. They're in no mood to fight.)

Frackles |
Tee hee! Yoo hoo!
|

Cosmo |
What's this? I call it mutiny!
|
|
Fred |
We call it the Christmas spirit!
|
|
Santa |
Tell him about it, Fred!
|
Fred sings a reprise of Cosmo's "bundle to be made at Christmas" song.

Oh... there's a bundle full of joy every Christmas Eve, A promise of peace we can all believe,
|

Thig & Thog |
And no one has learned that as well as we've...

All |
There's a bundle full of joy today!
|

Lothar |
Well, so much for the plan, oh defeated despot of mine.

Santa |
I'm off with the toys! Fred, you're in charge till I get back!
|

Fred |
I'll do my best, Santa, sir!
|
|
Santa |
Take everyone in the workshop, there's presents for all. Even you, Cosmo!
|

Cosmo |
Me? You're gonna give ME a present? I'm the King of Evil!
|
|
Santa |
Why don't you give up your life of crime, and have a Merry Christmas!
|

Cosmo |
We'll never give up! Will we, Lothar?
|
|
Lothar |
Speak for yourself! Personally, I am filled with the Christmas spirit.

Cosmo |
Et tu, Lothar? I'm surrounded by traitors.
|
Cosmo walks off, disgusted. Everyone else sings.

Everyone watches as Santa's sleigh takes off, to deliver presents to everyone in the world.
