Muppets Bring Art to Austin

Although there have been many museum exhibits featuring the Muppets, it’s a little surprising that there haven’t been many that specifically showcase art inspired by Jim Henson’s creations.  It’s pretty special whenever we get the chance to see puppets on display, iconic photos, important artifacts, and the like, but there’s something extra to appreciate when you can see an artist’s interpretation of those wiggling dolls we love so much.

If you happen to be anywhere near Austin, Texas this summer, you’ll get to see just that!  As far as we can tell, this is the first Muppet art exhibit officially licensed by Disney Fine Artists.

The exhibit will take place at the Art on 5th Gallery at 3005 S. Lamar Boulevard.  The show will run from June 24th through July 23rd.

If you’d like to attend the opening night on June 24th at 7pm, be sure to RSVP.  And maybe dress nice – this is fine art we’re talking about!

If you’re interested in buying any of the art, you’ll get your first chance at this show, and then the remaining prints will be available elsewhere in the world.

The good people at Disney Fine Art have generously sent us some samples from the show to share with you good people in the world of Muppet fandom.  So take a gander, and then if you can make it to Texas, see these pieces and more in person!
