Sad news from Thra today.

We have learned that the critically acclaimed The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance has been canceled by Netflix after just one season.

Earlier this week, the series won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Children’s Program. Despite this impressive accolade, the groundbreaking visuals, the artistry and performance, and the respect to the classic Jim Henson film, the series will not continue.

Executive Producer Lisa Henson has insinuated that The Jim Henson Company will be exploring ways to continue the story of Gelflings Brea, Deet, and Rian, as well as the expanded cast of Skeksis, Mystics, and Podlings, though we don’t expect that this will be done in the same format as the series.

We at ToughPigs are extremely disappointed by the news, as we’ve professed our admiration for the series as not only a terrific prequel to The Dark Crystal, but possibly the best production created by The Jim Henson Company in decades.
