We are saddened to learn that director, writer, producer, and actor Garry Mashall has passed away.  Best known for creating Happy Days, developing The Odd Couple, directing Pretty Woman, and literally hundreds of other important IMDb credits, Garry Marshall was a powerhouse in Hollywood.

Up until a couple years ago, we would’ve been shocked to learn that Marshall and the Muppets never crossed paths.  But thanks to a well-timed (and well-staged) feud between Miss Piggy and Joan Rivers, Garry Marshall had his chance to finally touch greatness.

In the YouTube video “Behind the Feud: Joan Rivers vs. Miss Piggy”, Marshall recounts his attempt at pairing the duo for a sitcom in the 1980s called Bjørnbots.  (“Miss Piggy’s from Sweden, Joan could be from… not Sweden.”)

You can view the video below.  The Garry Marshall segment begins around the 2:00 mark.

Of course, this is just a blip in Garry Marshall’s long and busy career.  Be sure to read more about him and his accomplishments in honor of a life well lived.
