We are saddened to learn that internet sensation and the most meme-able curmudgeon Grumpy Cat has passed away.
Outside of her role in countless memes, videos, and merchandise, Grumpy Cat has crossed paths with the Muppets several times.
In 2013, Mashable shared a video in which Oscar the Grouch and Grumpy Cat cross over for the first time. And in 2015, they put Grumpy Cat in the same room as Cookie Monster for another viral video.
Grumpy Cat also starred in her own film, Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever, for which The Jim Henson Company provided animatronic doubles for the titular cat.
And over on Twitter, during a Q&A with Statler and Waldorf, Waldorf claimed that Grumpy Cat would be playing him in a biopic.
As you can tell, Grumpy Cat has been prevalent all over the internet and throughout pop culture, just like the Muppets. We’re sad to have lost her, but grateful for all the fun work she left us.
