Have you ever been on a cruise? They’re pretty great. There’s lots of food, intriguing ports of call, more food, fun activities to enjoy, and most importantly, even more food. What could be better? Well, how about a live show featuring puppets by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop? I mean, you can’t eat the puppets, but it’s still pretty cool!

Princess Cruises recently announced the new production: It’s called The Secret Silk, it was created and directed by Muppet performer and actor John Tartaglia, in collaboration with Stephen Schwartz, a veteran of Broadway whose credits include Godspell and Wicked.

From the announcement: “Adapted from the ancient fable ‘The Grateful Crane,’ the story features Lan, a beautiful, selfless young woman who possesses a magical gift, secretly creating brilliant silk fabrics. Audiences will be introduced to original life-sized puppet creations by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, and an original song, ‘Sing to the Sky,’ both made exclusively for the line’s production.”

The Secret Silk will debut on the Royal Princess ship later this month, then it will be seen on the Island Princess ship in May, and then on the Diamond Princess ship in the fall. This definitely looks like an above-average cruise ship show, so if you’ve ever wanted to book a cruise, but you were just waiting for some cool puppets to motivate you, now’s the time!
