Jenny Slate Joins Muppet Babies as Miss Nanny

Jenny Slate, best known for her work on Saturday Night Live, Parks and Recreation, the Marcel the Shell videos, and Zootopia is the grownup in the room.  Yes, Jenny Slate is our new Nanny.

In the upcoming Muppet Babies cartoon, Slate will provide the voice for “Miss Nanny”, the caretaker for Baby Kermit and his pals.  The original Nanny was performed by Leave It to Beaver‘s Barbara Billingsley, so obviously the showrunners are going a more contemporary route.

Disney has also released the full voice cast for the series.  Your new Muppet Babies are:

  • Baby Kermit – Matt Danner (Gravity Falls)
  • Baby Piggy – Melanie Harrison (Fish Hooks)
  • Baby Animal – Dee Bradley Baker (Milo Murphy’s Law)
  • Baby Gonzo – Ben Diskin (The Spectacular Spider Man)
  • Baby Fozzie – Eric Bauza (The Adventures of Puss in Boots)
  • Summer the Penguin – Jessica DiCicco (Puppy Dog Pals)

Baby Kermit voice Matt Danner will also serve as the Supervising Director on the series.  Tom Warburton (Disney’s The 7D) is Executive Producer and Emmy Award-winner Eric Shaw (SpongeBob SquarePants) is Story Editor and Co-Producer.

So, back to Miss Nanny!  Rather than her signature striped tights, they’ll be changing with every episode (because honestly, who wears the same tights every day??).  She’ll be encouraging the Muppets to use their imaginations, rather than just popping in to check on them every so often.  And in keeping with tradition, Miss Nanny will only be seen from the neck down, thus continuing the theory that she does not have a face.  (Okay, so maybe I’m the only one with that theory, but I have notes!)

Check out the video below for your first peek at Miss Nanny, and for a few words from Jenny Slate about how excited she is to join the Muppet Babies world!
