Singer Keely Smith, famous for her strong voice and short bob haircut, has passed away at the age of 89.  Although she enjoyed a long and successful career, we know her best as the singer (along with her husband, Louis Prima) of “That Old Black Magic”.

You may recall, “That Old Black Magic” was used in a memorable Sam & Friends sketch, featuring Sam and Kermit.  Kermit wore her familiar hairstyle and sang the female part, making Keely Smith one of the first voices for Kermit after Jim Henson (though she likely didn’t know about it until after the fact).

Let’s honor Smith’s memory with a fond look back at that classic Sam & Friends bit right now.
