We are saddened to learn of the passing of Morley Safer, reporter and correspondent for CBS News, best known for his tenure on 60 Minutes.

Safer and the Muppets crossed paths a few times, most notably in 1979 when he interviewed the Muppet performers (and the Muppets) on the set of The Muppet Show.  The 60 Minutes segment is unsurprisingly brilliant, and is absolutely worth a re-watch.

According to the Muppet Wiki, Morley Safer also made a brief appearance in the special, Sing! Sesame Street Remembers Joe Raposo and His Music to help honor the Sesame Street composer who had recently passed away.

Thanks to Morley for helping to promote the Muppets and document them during what may have arguably been their finest era.
