Muppet Scavenger Hunt #2

You wanna know what love is? I’ll tell you what love is — Love is posting the results of a Scavenger Hunt, which means page after page of pictures and not very much writing on my part. So here it is.

The theme for the Scavenger Hunt this time was Muppets with Hearts & Flowers, and my mailbox was filled with love all week. Points were scored according to five categories: Miss Piggy, Elmo, other Muppet Show characters, other Sesame Street characters, and a catch-all Miscellaneous Muppets category. If two people sent in the same picture, they cancelled each other out, so the trick was to find pictures that nobody else found. And boy, did they ever.

I invited people to try some creative loophole-surfing, and here’s some of the mysterious results. Holly Miller sent in this photo of Francis Essex, director of production for ATV, with the Golden Rose of Montreux Award won by The Muppet Show. This is, therefore, a Muppet flower. At least, Holly says so, and I don’t want to argue with her about it.

Along similar lines, Julia Noomen sent in a photo of a flower that is actually called Miss Piggy. Here’s a quote from the garden site where she found the picture: “Also making a nice show was the Burseen iris, MISS PIGGY… I keep expecting an iris with a name like MISS PIGGY to be pink, with maybe big blue beards, but this iris is a shining, slick maroon purple with brass beards surrounded by a few white whiskers. It seems a very good doer and is an eye catcher.” If you look closely at the tag in the picture, you can just make out the name of the flower… Now that’s creative loophole-surfing if I ever saw it.

Anyway, why am I still writing when I could be showing pictures? Here are the romantic results:
