RIP Jerry Lewis

Earlier today, Variety and various other outlets reported that Jerry Lewis has died at the age of 91.  Lewis was a comedian, actor, director, and one of those old-fashioned show-business people who are increasingly scarce as time marches on.

Those less familiar with Lewis’s movies probably know him best as the founder and longtime host of the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon.  As Muppet Wiki tells us, the Muppets made a few appearances on the telethon over the years.  Highlights include appearances by Kermit in 2001 and 2003, Johnny Fiama and Sal in 2003 and 2005 (during which they sang “Bohemian Rhapsody”), and the 2007 telethon, when Rizzo and Pepe hosted for three hours.

Just last month, the Muscular Dystrophy Association posted a clip of that year’s telethon on YouTube.  As far as I can tell, it’s the only one online with Muppets interacting with Lewis:
