We try not to give too much credence to rumors until they’re confirmed, but this one might be too good not to speculate over. There’s a rumor buzzing around that Ricky Gervais, star of Muppets Most Wanted, has consulted on and may make an appearance on the upcoming Muppet TV series.
According to the Daily Mail, Ricky Gervais has some sort of involvement with the show, which makes sense since he co-created The Office, which was a strong inspiration for The Muppets. What convinces us that this isn’t just a typo is that Ricky retweeted the story on his personal Twitter account.
Assuming the rumor isn’t just conjecture, we don’t yet know Gervais’ role as a “consultant”, or the status of his potential appearance. Of course, we’ll keep you all updated if and when we get more information.
If Ricky Gervais does make an appearance on the show, he would be the latest member of the extremely rare club of people who have appeared on a Muppet show, a Muppet movie, and Sesame Street. Other club members include Madeline Khan, Alan Arkin, and Big Bird.
