Sesame Street Wins Primetime Emmy for Christmas Special

The Creative Arts Emmy awards ceremony — AKA the Emmys before the Emmys — was held last night, and Sesame Street won its category.  The charming, time-hopping holiday special Once Upon a Sesame Street Christmas, which aired on HBO in 2016, was nominated for Outstanding Children’s Program, and beat our all its competition (Girl Meets World, a Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 90th anniversary special, School of Rock, and Star Wars Rebels) for the award.

As we mentioned when the nominations were announced, Sesame Street has a gazillion daytime Emmys, but fewer primetime Emmys, so the producers will probably want to display this one toward the front of their enormous walk-in-freezer-sized awards case.
