Some Old Muppet Titles Will Apparently Be on Disney+

By this point, you’ve probably already decided whether or not you’re going to subscribe to Disney+, the upcoming streaming service from the company that, depending on who you talk to, is either a magical dream factory or the most evil corporation in the world.

And if you’re the kind of person who’s been keeping up with news about Disney+, you’ve probably heard that they surprised everyone by launching it early in the Netherlands. Naturally, Muppet fans in the Netherlands immediately searched to see what kind of Muppet stuff was available on the new service. Check out this tweet from one JFA Jansen:

Pretty much what we expected! You have the Disney-owned movies: The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Muppet Treasure Island, The Muppets, and Muppets Most Wanted. And you DON’T have the movies whose distribution rights are wrapped up with other parties: The Muppets Take Manhattan and Muppets From Space.

As for TV series, they have the 2015 sitcom The Muppets, and the current Muppet Babies. But there’s a distinct lack of The Muppet Show and Muppets Tonight, which I’d bet a nickel is because they couldn’t or wouldn’t or didn’t get the music rights for those variety shows.

There’s no guarantee that this will be the exact same selection when Disney+ comes to the US (or whatever country you happen to be in), but this gives us a good idea of what to look for (not Muppets From Space).
