For those of you who have been listening along with the ToughPigs’ podcast 70 Years, 70 Muppets, you’ll know that we’ve reached the end. For those of you who haven’t been listening along, you’ve got a lot of great podcasts to look forward to! To end the campaign, many of the episode hosts got together to record a wrap-up episode. And we couldn’t have a wrap-up without a rap. At least not at ToughPigs. So dropped right in the middle of our discussion, was a thing of beauty.
When the ToughPigs staff were throwing out ideas for what to do to celebrate the 70 Years campaign, one possibility that came up was writing a rap that included all 70 of the chosen Muppets. If you grew up in the 90s, then you know that everything had to have a rap associated with it. In this case, staff were specifically thinking of the “Pokerap” from Pokemon and the “Doggie Rap” from Doug, where the rap is a list of all the types of something.
Once the idea was out there, it was simply a matter of rhyming and recording, a challenge that Katilyn stepped up to tackle. A challenge made even harder when they decided that all 70 Muppets needed to be sung in less than 70 seconds. Then Shane used his boundless knowledge of Muppet clips to create the video for the rap using the previously mentioned Pokerap as a guide. And we think it’s a brilliant celebration of the Muppets, of 90s cartoon rap videos and of life itself. What do you think? Check it out below.
