Regular ToughPigians will know that I love to answer weird internet questions about Muppets, like ‘Does Kermit have teeth?’ or ‘Does Kermit have an Oscar’ or ‘What’s this weird Kermit shaped mole on my back and is it dangerous?’.
Over the years I’ve Googled ‘Does Kermit?‘, ‘Why Kermit?‘ and ‘Has Kermit?‘, but today I’ve decided to ask ‘What Kermit’, not in the way that’s like ‘What Kermit? I dunno watchu talking about, there was never no Kermit’ (imagine I said that in a cool mafia voice), but instead like “What Kermit social security number?’ etc. (It’s 9).

Question 1 – What Kermit plays in The Muppet Movie?
What an easy question to start off with! In the opening of The Muppet Movie, we hear the plucks of a banjo, played by Kermit the Frog singing ‘Rainbow Connection’, a song he has only ever sang once that one time only and never again a million times. Fun fact: Kermit’s current banjo consultant is friend of ToughPigs, Lucas Ross!
Now, on the off chance you meant to ask WHO Kermit is playing in The Muppet Movie, as he’s been known to act in other films as other characters, the answer is himself. Or, approximately, himself.

Question 2 – What Kermit are you today?
This seems to stem from a social media meme, which is a sentence that while writing it, made me feel like I was in my late 80’s. Basically, someone posts an image of 9 Kermit’s, all in different poses and moods, some official photos and some of toys, and asks which you are. There are a LOT of them on Google Images, but I’ve posted my favorite one above. For the record, today I am a 4.

Question 3 – What Kermit means?
The dictionary defines Kermit as ‘A male given name’. According to Wikipedia, it is a variant of the name ‘Kermode’, found on the Isle of Man, and seems to be a descendant of the name MacDermot. Hi Ho, MacDermot the Frog here! The name became famous when Teddy Roosevelt named his son Kermit, which was the middle name of someone else in his family tree. I dunno, man. This isn’t Ancestry.com. Stop asking me these questions. Ask me something like-

Question 4 – What Kermit is called in different countries?
Good news for you international Kermit fanatics! In most places, Kermit is just called Kermit! He might be called Kermit Frosk in Norway or Kermit Zaba in Poland, or even Kurbaga Kermit in Turkey (you turkey), but if you pointed at a photo of him in any of those countries, they’d say Kermit back to you! There are a few places he isn’t Kermit, though. In Brazil he’s known as Caco o Sapo, in Hungary he’s known as Breki béka, and in Australia we call him ‘Dingo the Wallaby Koala’.

Questions 5 and 6 – What is Kermit’s nephew called?/What is Kermit’s nephew’s name?
Kermit’s nephew is Robin! According to Muppet Wiki, many other family members of Kermit have been named, but never any other nephews. Fun fact, in Australia we call Robin ‘Emu the Drop Bear’.

Questions 7 and 9 – What Kermit sips?/What Kermit sips in popular meme?
You all know the meme. The one where Kermit sips a drink and it says something like ‘You took food stamps out of your Gucci bag. But that’s none of my business’ and everyone laughs at the person on food stamps even though that’s not funny. What’s Kermit drinking, you ask? It’s tea! Lipton tea, to be precise. It’s from a really fun ad that features Kermit, Piggy, and about 6 million Animal’s. You should watch it right here! And be more tea while you’re at it. Fun fact, in Australia we call tea ‘tea’, because sometimes we have the same name for things as you.

Questions 8 and 10 – What’s Kermit’s last name?/What’s Kermit’s full name?
Kermit’s full name is Kermit the Frog. It’s as simple as that! It’s not Kermit Jones and he goes by ‘the Frog’, it’s actually Kermit the Frog. In fact, according to the inside cover of the VHS ‘The Kermit and Piggy Story’, Kermit’s legal middle name is actually ‘The’. He is not known to go by Kermit T. Frog, although my late father said ‘Hi Ho, Kermit T. Frog here’ so much during my childhood that I was convinced that’s what Kermit said for years.
Hopefully this has answered some of your questions, internet! Did you learn anything new? I sure did! Like Kermit not having any other named nieces or nephews, or that thing about MacDermot, or that Australian’s call toads ‘Chazzwazzers’.
