Muppet Sherlock Holmes coming soon

Here’s a scoop from muppetsherlockholmesMTV News: The next Muppet comic adaptation from Boom! Studios (after Muppet Snow White, which comes after the soon-to-conclude Muppet King Arthur), will be Muppet Sherlock Holmes. The new miniseries will have covers by David Peterson and Amy Mebberson, although I can’t seem to find a mention of who’s writing the thing in the above-linked article.

The choice of Gonzo as Holmes and Fozzie as Watson seems to have potential, and it’s nice that they resisted the temptation to make Kermit the detective. Although that makes me wonder what role Kermit will play in the comic. Could he be Dr. Moriarty?

For those of you keeping track, various Muppety characters have portrayed Holmes in the past… Check out the Sherlock Holmes article on the wiki to revisit such classic variations as Sherlock Bunsen and the hilariously named Surelick Bones.

Keep an eye on Tough Pigs for additional info on the comic as it surfaces… I’m sure we’ll use our brilliant detective skills to find out more. Like whether Baskerville might have a cameo as the hound of his namesake.
