kitchenwebbyWhen it comes to awards, the Muppets are pretty much the Katherine Hepburn of the internet.

What the heck am I talking about? Well, the Muppets have been nominated for another Webby Award! They’ve been nominated four times in the past, and won three of those times (for Statler and Waldorf from the Balcony, Beaker’sOde to Joy, and Bohemian Rhapsody). This year, they’re nominated for the webseries The Muppets Kitchen with Cat Cora, which managed to take a notably un-Muppety genre (a cooking show) and make it not only Muppety, but fun enough to entertain fans like me, despite the fact that I’m way too lazy to ever make any of the recipes.

The Muppets Kitchen is nominated for a People’s Voice Webby in the Comedy: Long Form or Series category, which is cool because that means the Webby people think it’s funny enough not to just nominate it in the “How-to and DIY” category. And it’s in some pretty high-falutin’ company: web shorts from The Office and 30 Rock, a Funny or Die video that featured big comedy veterans like Jim Carrey and Dana Carvey playing U.S. presidents past and present, and Lisa Kudrow’s Web Therapy. So that’s some pretty tough competition, but none of those other shows had a monstrous Muppet frankfurter terrorizing Beaker,so I definitely think Cat Cora and those wacky puppet buddies of hers have a shot.

You can click here to go to the Webby website and vote. Now the question is: If they win, who gets to give the traditional five-word acceptance speech? Cat Cora? Angelo? The penguin fire chief?
