Just like everyone else on the internet, we at ToughPigs took a mini-break over the holidays. But unplugging for a few hours a day doesn’t keep the Muppet news away! Let’s see what we missed while we were busy countdowning and Auld Lang Syning.

The Muppet Movie has been inducted into the Library of Congress’s National Film Registry, along with Michael Jackson’s Thriller. What exactly does this mean? The films in the National Film Registry will be preserved forever, which means you can throw away your Muppet Movie DVDs now. Thanks, Library of Congress!Poster.tmm2

The Muppet Show Comic was ranked #27 in Comic Book Resources’ top 100 comics of 2009. Eat our dust, Invincible Iron Man!Muppetshowcomic-tradepaperback

Damian Kulash, the frontman for the band OkGo (which is well known for their amazingly choreographed music videos) recently met Kermit the Frog backstage at The Jay Leno Show. While it’s not exactly news, it’s still a little adorable to see Kulash geek out over meeting the Frog. As if any of us would act any differently…

The Muppets were on the latest episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Highlights included Gonzo wearing his Muppets Take Manhattan daredevil outfit, demolitions expert Crazy Harry, and a bus-driving Animal. Oh, and I guess they built a house or something. Watch the whole episode while it lasts on Hulu right now!
