And So It Begins: Nick Stoller Teases the Next Muppet Movie

Collider.com interviewed Nick Stoller recently, and naturally, they inquired about plans for the follow-up to The Muppets.  Stoller revealed that he and James Bobin have outlined the whole thing, and have already written 13 pages of the screenplay.  That was fast!  Collider also quotes Stoller describing the movie as a comedy caper, which sounds pretty good, considering the Muppets’ previous experience in that subgenre.  And apparently Disney is hoping for a release date next summer, but Stoller says “I don’t think that that’s realistic in terms of getting it all together in time. But to want to do it so quickly is great. It certainly makes us want to write it quickly.”

So hopefully they’ll write quickly enough that they can get the movie in front of our faces as soon as possible, but not so quickly that they forget to include jokes, or make typos like calling the characters Moopets.  Oh, wait.

Anyway, that’s the gist of it, but you should read the Collider piece for the whole thing. And let the speculation and snap judgments begin!
