Astronaut and physicist Sally Ride has passed away at the age of 61.  While some might say her biggest accomplishment was being the first American woman in outer space, we all know that it came a year later when she visited Sesame Street.

In 1984, Sally Ride filmed a few segments on Sesame Street, including the clip below where she talks about how awesome the letter A is.  And according to the Muppet Wiki, Ride was also a friend of Jerry Juhl’s, and visited the Fraggle Rock set to practice using the Doozer vehicle technology in preparation for using the space shuttle’s robotic arm.
