Two years ago, a very exciting thing happened: ABC announced that the Muppets were getting a new TV show. That show came and went during the 2015-2016, eventually figuring out how to make some excellent episodes. In the pantheon of TV series starring the Muppet Show characters, it managed to come in at a solid #4.
But for a lot of people that wasn’t enough, and general audiences reacted with a shrug of disappointment. Consequently, ABC stuck with its proven 90s-era strategy of keeping Tim Allen shows on forever and canceling the Muppets after one season.
Well, get ready to be disappointed in a completely different way, because the Muppets aren’t doing a new TV show next year. Better pull out your old Muppets Tonight tapes and watch those again, because that’s as close as we’re gonna get.
