Back in 1955, a small show hit the airwaves, ushering in a new dawn of entertainment. The subject? Sam. Around him? His friends. Including a small lizard creature who has become a world icon.
In 2022, Muppet writer and President of The Jim Henson Legacy, Craig Shemin, penned the book “Sam and Friends: The Story of Jim Henson’s First Television Show,” all about the show that ran from 1955 until 1961. Most of the series has been lost to time, so in Craig’s original book he published episode guides and just a few scripts.
In his latest book, The Sam and Friends Script Book’, Craig has uncovered 60 archival scripts from the show. And while we don’t have a release date, we do have… a cover! Featuring art by ToughPigs’ pal Dave Hulteen, Jr.

Gaze upon the colorful photos of Sam and Harry the Hipster, while you take in the scripts and notes around them! Isn’t it beautiful? I like the yellow.
