The full schedule for the bi-annual Disney D23 Expo has been announced, and fortunately, the Muppets managed to snag a slot…sorta.
On Friday, August 14 (from 6:45 to 7:45pm), Family Guy creator and space captain Seth MacFarlane is hosting an event titled “The Muppets Musical History,” teasing special guests in a conversation about the Muppets’ many songs. No word on whether those “guests” include actual Muppets themselves, but hopefully Marvin Suggs or someone can drop by for a hot second. But most importantly, the event is promoting an upcoming “orchestral album” of Muppet songs that MacFarlane is producing. Will it be all instrumentals, or will it be covers like his pretty good version of “The First Time It Happens?” We’ll find out in one month approximately!
And that’s pretty much it for Muppet-related events at the expo. But our fingers are crossed for something happening during their big Entertainment and Experiences showcases. More Muppet Show specials? A new series? The Muppets turning the tables and take over Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor? I’ll take whatever breadcrumbs they give.
But, beyond the main events, the Muppets Studio will have a new line of merchandise availible exclusively at the expo as a part of the Mickey’s of Glendale line. These include new graphic tees, jackets, jewelry, and handbags. You’ll be the envy of everyone with your patented Bean Bunny t-shirt!
