It may not be Kermit the Frog’s actual birthday on May 9th, but it’s still the perfect day to celebrate the Frog himself. In honor of the 70th anniversary of Sam and Friends and the roots of the Muppets, Disney is declaring May 9th as Kermit the Frog Day!
But, you may perhaps be wondering, how is one expected to celebrate Kermit the Frog Day? It shouldn’t surprise you to hear that it has something to do with being green. Yes, Kermit himself is dictating our wardrobes by insisting that Muppet fans everywhere celebrate this momentous holiday by wearing green. Sounds easier than buying him a gift basket!
In addition to donning your emerald attire, Kermit asks that we all celebrate by performing at least one act of kindness, which is genuinely a good idea in so many ways. And should you be the type of person to use social media, go ahead and use the hashtag #KermittheFrogDay wherever you can.
In addition to all that stuff, Kermit was honored with a proclamation by the State of California Legislature in honor of the big anniversary. Here he is, alongside the most famous man on the west coast, the Honorable Nick Schultz, Assemblymember from California’s 44th district.
