After a long absence of… 364 days, 123 Sesame Street will once again roll from Central Park to Herald Square as part of 2018 edition of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This will be Sesame Street‘s 45th consecutive year in the parade, a tradition nearly as old as the show itself.
And in keeping with a newer tradition, a special guest will be featured on the float. This year, Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls, The Princess and the Frog, hanging out with Miss Piggy at a 2010 event for Good Housekeeping) will be joining Sesame Street‘s lineup of Muppets and human cast members to perform. We don’t know what song will be featured yet, but I’m sure it’ll be a good one. (I’m hoping for “Peanut Butter,” myself).
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air on NBC from 9 AM to 12 PM on Thursday, November 22nd. Other performers this year include Ashley Tisdale (of Studio DC fame), Barenaked Ladies (who once jammed out with Count von Count), John Legend (who once jammed out with Hoots the Owl), Martina McBride (who you can hear singing “When Love is Gone” in the end credits of The Muppet Christmas Carol), Pentatonix (who once had their Christmas presents stolen by Constantine), Sugarland (who sang “Songs,” and continue to sing other songs), and Diana Ross (who did something with the Muppets, but I’m sure it wasn’t important).
