We are sad to report the death of award-winning animator Paul Fierlinger, who passed away this Friday at the age of 89 (as reported by Animation Magazine). He is responsible for many animated productions, such as his 1979 Oscar-nominated short It’s So Nice to Have a Wolf Around the House, but Muppet fans will most certainly know him for the several animated inserts he produced for Sesame Street and The Electric Company over the years. Perhaps you recognize some of these classics!
But, most notably, Fierlinger was responsible for creating everybody’s favorite dish ware-based protagonist – the Teeny Little Super Guy! Watch him in action below, and be sure to check out this video by animator Tom Sloan showing how Fierlinger and his team produced the series.
