It’s officially 2026! Which means it’s the year we get to see the new Muppet Show special featuring Sabrina Carpenter!
Last night during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest (try saying that three times fast), Kermit and Piggy appeared to deliver a quick holiday message while also plugging the special. Later on in the show, as was teased the other day, a new promo for the upcoming special premiered.
Unfortunately, a high-definition version has yet to be posted online, and all the videos we can find so far are from people recording the promo on their TV with their phone. But, it’s better than nothing, I guess! So check out this somewhat-clear teaser!
A whole lotta wacky Muppet shenanigans going on! But what sticks out to me, and many others, are all the new and refurbished characters. Much like how the 2011 movie brought back guys like Droop and Bobby Benson, this special is lookin’ to do the same. Despite the quality, we can make out our old pals Hilda, George, Mildred, Zelda Rose, Baskerville, Miss Mousey, the Koozebanians, Paul Revere, – heck, even that one particular Whatnot lady they used mainly in the first two seasons! It looks like they even corrected Thog’s height too!
It looks like a lot of love and care has gone into this, and I can’t wait to see the whole thing (and hopefully, in good quality).
