If you loyally follow Tough Pigs, you’re already aware that the next Muppet is scheduling to begin filming in England in January 2013, and that Christoph Waltz has been approached to play a role. This weekend, Collider got a few more newsy notes from Todd Lieberman, one of the producers of The Muppets who will be filling that role again on the new film.

It’s not really news at all that “we ‘might’ be getting a new Muppet,” because that happens in most Muppet movies. But here’s the groovy part: Bret McKenzie will be coming back to write new songs for the film.  It’s kind of unprecedented, as no other composer has ever been the primary songwriter for two Muppet movies in a row, but McKenzie is the guy who won the Muppets an Oscar, so he’s a solid choice.

Thanks to Tough Pigs’ own Matt Wilkie for the alert! Click here to get “Life’s a Happy Song” stuck in your head again on the Tough Pigs forum!
