Every so often, I get a little surprise in my inbox from Dave Hulteen, and every time it happens, I’m left in awe of his amazing talent, his dedication to the characters, and his humble attitude. It’s always a treat to see brand new art from Dave, and it’s an even greater treat to be able to share it with all of you.

Check out the latest from Dave Hulteen below, as well as his own comments below each image. And remember, give the pictures a click to see them in their full glory!

01-redRed – Just a fun vector line art piece of the Rock’s most competitive Fraggle.

02-Typ_Oz_raphyFrank’s Future Book Cover – Typography is in itself an art-form, and if Frank does ever decide to write a book, this is my cover concept.

03-Digital_Painted_FozzieThe Painted Bear – A digital painting of Fozzie.

04-to_morrowLast Train To Morrow – Another vector piece of the country trio.

05-the_immaculate_jimThe Immaculate Jim – Okay… this one is the big enchilada. My work on the Muppet Madness competition actually taught me some important things when it comes to digital painting, and I wanted to use what I learned from that experience on a grander level. This piece took approximately 40 hours to complete and was completely done in Photoshop with a tablet as well as some other tools. Inspired by Michelangelo’s “The Creation of Adam” found on the Sistine Chapel ceiling, and deifying Jim in only the way a real fan ever would, this is the culmination of years of training on my end. The philosophical implications are staggering on this one in my opinion.

ask-tp(Note from Joe: This is the first time Ryan and I have ever received fan art based on us, rather than the characters we pay tribute to every day! We’ll be using this image for a project in the near future, but we couldn’t wait to share it with everyone. It’s an honor to have been drawn by the guy who created all of the images above. And in case you’re wondering, I’m the one on the left!)
