Disney Museum Hosting Henson 70th Anniversary Panel

So, the big talk this week is of course the Muppets turning 70 years old. But, that also means it’s been 70 years since Jim Henson’s creative influence began to reach an audience, which would lead to the creation of the Jim Henson Company.* And one thing the company has planned to celebrate is an exclusive panel with some pretty important people!

On Saturday, June 14th, the Walt Disney Family Museum is hosting a “Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of The Jim Henson Company” panel at 3pm PST. Yvette Nicole Brown will moderate the panel of some of Jim’s collaborators and current-day keepers of the flame, including designer/building Bonnie Erickson, performer Dave Goelz, archivist Karen Falk, producer Alex Rockwell, and company CEO/daughter Lisa Henson. A swell group of people!

If you live in the area and wish to attend, tickets will be availible through the museum’s website starting next week; museum members will get early access to tickets, and the public tickets will be availible by the end of the week.

*Now, some you smarty pants-type people might know that technically, the Jim Henson Company in its first form as Muppets, Inc. didn’t officially incorporate until 1958, so this would technically be the company’s 68th anniversary. But if they want to celebrate being older than they look, then who are we to stop them?
